The Websites Of The Future
Do you think websites will remain relevant in the future? With fast-paced trends, technology, and AI, they could become obsolete. Let's delve into this podcast as I explain where things are heading.
Hello there, and welcome to another episode of the Freedom Business podcast. If you haven't subscribed on Apple or Spotify yet, please do so. We recently made it into the top 10 trending podcasts on Apple, and I'm thrilled about that. So, if you haven't subscribed yet, make sure to do so and stay updated with future episodes. Now, let's discuss whether websites will maintain their relevance in the future. I'm recording this podcast in 2023, so if you're listening to it later, you might be in a different world, but I'm here to shed light on this topic. Take some notes as I walk you through it.
In the first part, I'll discuss the different types of websites that exist today. In the second part, I'll delve into the future and how various factors may impact the world of websites. Finally, in the third part, I'll provide you with some actionable steps to position yourself for relevance in this rapidly changing landscape. Ready? Let's start with a bit of background—I've been working with WordPress since 2006, gaining extensive experience in website development. I've built hundreds of websites and spent countless hours creating landing pages on various page builder platforms. Over the years, I've run campaigns for some of the world's leading influencers and thought leaders. I share this to emphasize my long-standing involvement in technology and WordPress, which has had its ups and downs.
Now, let's address the evolving landscape. New technologies like Webflow and other platforms are replacing older formats. While WordPress still powers a significant portion of the world's websites (I don't have the exact statistics), change is inevitable. With that in mind, let's explore the different types of websites:
Content-based websites or blogs: These were my starting point in the digital world, where I shared insights from my spiritual master's lectures.
Corporate websites: Commonly used by large companies to showcase their services and offerings.
Community-based websites: Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Mighty Networks allow you to create your own private social networks.
E-commerce websites: Whether you use WooCommerce, Shopify, or Magento, these sites are designed for selling products.
Web applications: These require login credentials and offer various functionalities. For example, I've developed a custom web app, Pollar, for my diamond members to track their business activities.
Funnels: These are specialized web page builders designed for specific goals, like lead generation or product sales. They differ from regular websites in their focused approach.
Now, let's move on to the next section of this podcast, where we discuss the future of websites. Will websites remain relevant? My answer is that as long as media and content continue to evolve, websites will have a place. It's all about the connection you maintain with your audience. For instance, in the past, we used pagers before text messaging and WhatsApp became the norm.
The digital landscape will keep changing, but your ability to adapt and engage your audience will determine your success. Stay tuned for more insights as we continue this discussion.
The content has always been present, but the way media is exchanged has evolved over time. Similarly, I believe that although we have websites and exchange media in a particular way in 2023, as I'm recording this podcast, by 2030 or 2035, the way media is exchanged will be different. This is where I see things heading in the future.
Firstly, websites will become AI-powered. Currently, we see websites like ChatGPT capable of generating substantial amounts of text. Tools like GPT and frameworks like OpenAI have leveraged AI to generate diverse content, and this generative AI concept has gained momentum in recent years.
What I foresee for the future of AI-powered websites is a departure from the static nature of today's websites. They could become dynamic, with changing aesthetics and content based on the user's mood. Instead of presenting the same content to everyone daily, AI can detect a user's persona and deliver personalized content. It will customize the entire website experience based on factors like the user's demographics, location, and preferences.
In addition to personalization, I anticipate websites becoming more adaptable for virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). With advancements like Apple's VR headset and other AR technologies, websites will need to incorporate more visual elements to cater to evolving user preferences.
This leads me to my third point: websites will offer a more personalized and immersive experience. Users won't just consume information passively; they will interact with the website in a way that aligns with their needs and preferences. This shift towards immersive and personalized experiences is crucial as users increasingly seek engaging and relevant content.
Moving forward, the fourth aspect of the future of websites involves Web3 and blockchain technology. Websites could operate in a more decentralized manner, granting users greater control, transparency, and security. Digital assets will be safeguarded through these technologies, enhancing overall security.
Furthermore, websites will feature ultra-high-definition media. With improved bandwidth and display technologies, websites may incorporate 8K videos, 3D graphics, and high-fidelity audio, offering richer multimedia experiences. Internet speeds are rapidly increasing, diminishing concerns about page load times.
Lastly, I envision websites embracing dynamic and real-time content updates using AI and big data. Content will be continuously refreshed to provide users with the most up-to-date and relevant information, ensuring their access to the latest news and developments.
In summary, the future of websites entails AI-powered personalization, adaptability for VR and AR, immersive experiences, blockchain integration, ultra-high-definition media, and real-time content updates. This transformation promises a more engaging and tailored online experience for users.
I believe that the entire digital landscape will undergo disruptions due to dynamic real-time content updates, driven by AI and big data, as well as information gathering from various sources. Additionally, I foresee a significant shift in the way websites operate in the future, with an emphasis on advanced authentication methods such as biometrics rather than relying solely on passwords. In the future, websites might utilize facial recognition, fingerprint scanning, or even heartbeat signatures and other biometric identifiers to enhance security and user convenience. This personalized approach will ensure that users receive content tailored to their preferences.
Furthermore, I anticipate a future where each individual's internet experience is highly customized. Users will log in through facial recognition or fingerprint scanning, enabling websites to deliver content that is highly relevant to their interests and needs. The internet is rapidly expanding with knowledge, and personalization will be key in the future.
Another trend I see emerging in web design is the concept of zero user interface (UI). Currently, we are witnessing the emergence of voice-activated and gesture-based navigation, reducing the need for traditional menus and sections on websites. In the future, some websites may abandon traditional user interfaces entirely, focusing solely on voice, touch, and gesture interactions. The user experience may become incredibly minimalistic, with just a single button for users to request what they need, similar to the simplicity of chat interfaces like GPT-3. This evolution will result in a zero UI user experience.
Additionally, I believe that websites of the future will prioritize sustainability and eco-friendly design. With increasing environmental awareness, web hosting solutions and design practices will prioritize energy efficiency and eco-friendliness. Users may choose hosting providers with a zero carbon footprint, following the example set by companies like Apple, which are striving for zero environmental impact across their product lifecycle.
Now, moving on to the practical steps for preparing for the future:
Build your personal brand by creating your own website, ideally using your name as the domain. In the future, your domain name will serve as your online address and a recognizable part of your identity.
Establish a community website or platform related to your interests or expertise. This community site can complement your personal brand website, facilitating interactions and transactions within your community.
By taking these steps, you'll position yourself to adapt to the evolving digital landscape. Remember that websites are continuously evolving, and staying informed about emerging trends and technologies will be crucial for success. If you're not already part of my community, I encourage you to attend my next webinar, where I'll provide guidance on building your online presence and community. The digital world is ever-changing, and embracing innovation will be key to your long-term success.
I love staying at the forefront of technology, but I also value making informed decisions that stand the test of time. I don't rush into adopting new technology just because it's available. Recently, I transitioned to a new learning management system, keeping in mind that it will support me on this medical platform for the next five to ten years.
