Clarity of mission and vision helps us grow, every big company has that clarity.
Mission-focused businesses will always outgrow profit focused businesses.
Step 1 – The problem statement should be clear (building confidence and trust in them)
Step 2 – Mission should be connected to what are you going to do to solve the problem
Step 3 – Vision – The outcome of the mission
Step – 4 Values – Values come from Mission and vision – What should be the principle of which it should operate.

Your Vibe Will Attract Your Tribe

You will be having a beautiful Tribe who will support you & there will be more co-operation between the Tribe Members
      1. Identify what problems do you solve. It should be clearly stated.
      2. Mission should be connected to solving the problem.

      4. Then come to values which will sprout out of problems, mission and vision.
      5. Code of honour is rule that you set for each of the values that you have.
Print it and keep it on the wall available for reading it every day. Your vibe will be aligned with it and it will attract the people who resonate with it.

These are in terms of simplistic core statements where the organization is going to go; Mission focused business; Why they do what they do; what problem you want to solve; Mission is what you gonna do to solve the problem; what is going to be the outcome of your solution; values such as Freedom/growth/clarity/Effeciency/ abundace/ contribution and Code of Honor

β€’ Between vision and mission and what’s the difference between code of honour and values

β€’ Simon Sinek says β€œthere are very few businesses in this world that actually communicate inside out, everybody likes to talk about what they do but very few businesses talk about why they do what they do and the only way to attract lifelong customers is by having clarity in ones vision, mission, values.

β€’ another layer call the code of honour – which is most important

β€’ craft a vision and mission statement and a code of honour for community so that you can attract the right kind of customers for example Apple β€œmission is to bring the best user experience to its customers through its innovative hardware software and services”

β€’ core set of words or the statement actually defines where the organization is going to go and the same applies to knowledge business

β€’ In the digital coaching business one needs to be clear about who you are serving and what problem that one is actually solving

    • Rahil Ahmed S

Here are main learnings from your todays podcast:

Very few businesses communicate why they do what they do- Simon Sinek

Biggest companies like Google and Amazon had clarity of Vision and mission that is the reason they are where they are today.

Mission focused businesses outshine profit focussed businesses.

This podcast gave clarity about 5 main pillars of a business:
      1. Identifying the problem: Identify what problem do you want to solve.
      2. Mission: What are you going to do to solve the problem.
      3. Vision: What will be the result after you solve the problem
4:Values: Sprout out from vision, mission and problem statement
Sidz values are: Freedom, efficiency, growth, abundance, clarity, contribution
5: Code Of Honour: Rule that you set for each value. These will help in making decisions

    • Rahul H Madhiwalla

Nice podcast. It gives good clarity on how vision, mission , values, and code of honour can be set for the tribe. Also the linkages between each is explained and how it helps the group cohesion.

    • Bhupendra Sonar

It’s always amazing listening to you, it opens up some doors of my mind which even I don’t know that are there, and ideas do come through…!!

I could understand one thing is that my vision mission and values will tell others about who I am and what I am doing…

I will put here how I am designing…
The process starts with finding the core problem

The PROBLEM – ‘Small businesses are inefficient and struggling’

THE MISSION – ‘am on a mission to help 100,000 MSME’s achieve operational excellence’

THE VISION – ‘the vision to change the world for MSME’s & empower them to be able to compete’

      THE VALUES –

      INTEGRITY :

Deliver outstanding work that meets personal and firms standards by holding on to principles.

      COMPASSION :

We are all people, and people make mistakes. We’re here to help you fix those, without risk or judgment, and move forward.

      DRIVE FOR RESULTS :

We are action-oriented at work and ensure that your goals are achieved & we strive for achieving them within a particular time frame.

      CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT :

Never settle for status quo. Operate with personal ownership and look for ways and means to improve performance all the time.

I will work on it better and will get a refined version.

    • Edidiong Idang

Learnt a lot for myself as a podcaster. The message was crisp and brief points dropped by Sidz.

My take away: 1. Discover the problem you want to solve. 2. Create a mission that will help you in solving the problem 3. Create a Vision which is the outcome you expect to see. 4. Create Values that will guide you and 5. Develop a code of honor for each of the values.

      Very powerful!

      • Siddharth Rajsekar

Thanks for sharing Edidiong!! Great to know that you are a podcaster too..

Problem- Mission – Vision – is the core
      Code of the honor-
      1. Clarity in all areas
      2. Golden triangle – Learn -Do – Teach
      3. Implementation- Fail forward, fail fast.
      4. Create multiple resources.
      5. Contribution 10% to charities

    • Aman Juneja

Ahhhh such an insightful crystal clear, crisp sharing around Setting the problem statement, mission, vision, values and code of honor.

      Also loved how Sidz, beautifully explained the difference between mission and vision, and between values and code of honor;

**** Clarity of Mission and Vision helps us proceed smoothly towards our final chosen destination

**** A mission focused business will outshine, any day, a profit focused business

**** Problem statement: What Problem do you want to solve ?

**** Difference between Mission and Vision
Mission: How the problem will be solved
Vision: Outcome which happens once problem is solved

**** Values: core principles upon which everything revolves around (our own authentic values, value of tribes etc.)

      **** Code of honor:
      – rules set for each of these values;
      – a simple statement which protects you from oneself, when it comes to taking some important decision

**** Outcome of following a certain values:
      – Same kind of people who resonate will be attracted
      – Beautifully aligned tribe will be formed
      – Mastermind may be formed because people with same mindset will be attracted together

1.Big Companies are big because of its very clear problem solving approach clear vision and mission.
2.Code of Honour help to set rule for giving values for audiences
3.It is super clarity between Vision, Mission, Principles and Rule for Code of Honour.

Primarily your success depends on inside to out game.
It from why at the core to how at the next level to what at the next level.
You should be clear about what problems of society solve.
This should give your mission statement and the vision.
      In Sidz’s case
Problem is fixing the education sector.
      Misson make educators as leaders.
Vision is actually freedom in lifestyle.

Code of hounour is rules to implement your values.
      For example
10% charity is code of honour to implement value of charity.

      Your vibes attracts your tribe.

How to Design Your Vision, Mission, Values & Code of Honor for your Tribe

The biggest companies in the world are clear on their missions Apple, Amazon, and Google -It is because of the simplistic and clear messages given.

Mission-focused businesses out beat the other businesses. As explained by Simon Sinek in a video with a color sketch

1 What problem do you want to solve?
2 Design Mission based on what are you solving
3 Vision is how this will help people produce an outcome
4 Values – must sprout out from vision and mission – Come up with a list of values
5 Code of honor –Created out of the values & protect the community

Convey this through you all the communications in different media

Your vibe will attract the tribe

People who are not aligned with the values will leave

People will stand for values that will stay forever

It is not about you, it is about the community

As you Unity is a strength

Mastermind – when 2 or 3 people come together a third mind opened up that is called mastermind as per napoleon hill

Grow you’re your business by creating a Vision, Mission, Values & Code of Honor for your Tribe

This content is amazing. I have learnt that it is important to know why I am doing what I am doing, just like those successful billionaires u mentioned there. Four key learnings are: 1) Mission statement is the core key of words about what problem do you want to solve. 2) Vision is what is going to happen if u solve that problem. 3) Values are sprouting out the main key problems u want to solve. 4) Code of honour is the rules that u set for each of the values.

      * Clarity of the mission and vision is very very important.

      * What problem you want to solve?
      * Mission Statement?
      * Different b/e mission & Vision?
Mission <β€” What you want to solve
Vision Your vibe will attract Tribe
β€”> You will attract you customers for life
β€”> You will get like minded people
β€”> Ultimately, It’s more about the community not about individual

How To Design Your Vision, Mission, Values & Code of Honor For Your Tribe

      1. Problem: What problem you are going to solve

      2. Mission: what you want to change in current situation, start with why

      3. Vision: Long term thinking

      4. Values: System & Work Ethics

      5. Code of Honor:

      a. More freedom
      b. Service to mankind
      c. Celebrate life

    • Madhur

Very few businesses communicate inside out – why they do what they do
Connecting with customers happens with the vision and mission alignment

Big companies -have clarity of their vision and mission statement and that’s what helped them grow so Big , for example
Google would like to Organize world’s information and make it universally accessible
      Mission focused biz outshines

      1. First element: What problem do you want to solve
Problem statement should be very clear
      Purpose of community very clear

      2. Mission – World’s largest society of teachers
What are going to do to solve the problem

      3. Vision – How the world will be different through this – visualize outcome

      4. Values sprout out from problems, vision & mission statements:
      For example: Values of ILH
      1. Freedom
      2. Growth
      3. Clarity
      4. Efficiency / Abundance
      5. Contribution

      5. Next element – Code of Honour
In one sense it is same as values but it actually gives the rule you set in alignment with values
For example: Make decisions that only give you freedom (value0 – not bound you in the system

β€œCode of honor saves you from you, when you are in a situation to make decision”
      Another example:
β€œLearn , Do and Teach simultaneously for growth”
Implement with speed – β€˜Money loves speed’, β€˜Fail Fast Fail Forward’

Thus Code of honor for value of abundance might lead to creating multiple streams of income for example

For the value of Contribution – giving 10% of earnings works well.

      In summary:
Design the mission and vision from problem first and then find your values and code of honor

Design a pdf and look at it daily as you need to take decisions and operate – choose how to go about it, as per your values and code of honor

Mission of businesses is talked about more and voicing out the outcome of it improves
One advantage of this is that:
Your vibe will attract your tribe and People who don’t align will go
Attract customers for life as they are aligned with what business stands for – the foundation.

Having like-minded people helps them to make Lifetime friendships (among members)
Tribe – is important and the more the harmony and collaboration among members, the better it is to be unified. This is much better than to work on your own. In a mastermind – whole new environment causes many more new ideas to come up, for work.

Very few businesses communicate inside out – why they do what they do

β€” How to design the Vision, Mission, Values & Code of Honour for your Tribe —

Problem – Be clear with who you are and what problem you are going to solve. Identify your What, How, and Why.
Your Mission – What is the Problem you are going to solve – The problem statement should be very clear
Your Vision – What is going to happen when you are able to solve the problem effectively.
Values – After your problem statement, Mission Statement, and Vision Statement get clear then you need to come to Values. Values should sprout out from your mission and vision.
Code of Honour – Code of honor is the rule that you set for each of your values. Create a rule and set a code of honor for each of the values you have identified.

When you are able to align more and more people to the vision, mission, and values and remind them about the bigger picture or the bigger goal, there will be more cooperation and collaboration between people.

How To Design The Vision, Mission, Values & Code Of Honor For Your Tribe?

Sidz, this topic is close to my heart for almost 15 years now. And I remember the first time I created a Code of Honor for my company.

Code of Honor is more of ethics for a group, whereas values are personal and differ from person to person. Having said that, if a leader of the tribe has a mission, vision & Values & no Code of Honor, what’s missing is how to function as a group. Code of Honor is not just about how to conduct actions in the group, it also protects every member of their privacy, respect & preserves ethics in the tribe.
Code of Honor brings like minded people in the tribe. Members who don’t resonate drop off the tribe by themselves. Code of Honor is a strong sense of refinement for the tribe. Some years before I had searched for Code of Honors of Huge corporations and one image that I came across was J&J Code of Honor, carved on a huge piece of Marble, situated right at the entrance of their complex.

The principle of the Golden Circle is just awesome. The outer ring is the β€˜What’, the middle circle is the β€˜How’ and the inner ring is the β€˜Why’. Most Leaders talk about what they do.

People don’t buy β€œWhat you do?”. People Buy β€œWhy you do?”

Great to have you in the community, Banibarta. Glad you found this journey valuable.

    • Anshuman Khullar

Simon Senex says in his Ted Talk that there are very few businesses in this world that actually communicate inside out. Everybody likes to talk about what they do, but very few businesses talk about why they do what they do. And the only way to attract lifelong customers is by having clarity in their vision, mission values.
Podcast is about how do you frame a vision and mission statement and a code of one of your community so that you can attract the right kind of customers?
It’s a clarity of mission and vision statements that have actually enabled them to become the big companies that they are.
A mission focused business will any day outshine a profit focused business.
The problem statement should be very clear.
The mission should be connected to what are you going to do to solve the problem? And the vision is what is going to happen when you’re able to solve that problem effectively? The outcome.
      First element is problem.
      Second element is mission.
      Third element is vision.
      Fourth element is values.
Fifth element is code of honor
How is code of honor different from values. The code of honor is nothing but a rule that you set for each of these values
Code of honor is a simple statement that protects you from you when you are in a situation where you have to make a decision

      Outcomes:
First: Your vibe will attract your tribe
      Second: Attract customers for life
Third: You’ll have a beautifully aligned tribe that truly makes a difference because ultimately, it is not about you.

And when people come together with a strong vision, mission, values and stuff like that, and they come with a common purpose, right? There’s something called the Mastermind principle that Napoleon Hill talks about. When even two or three people come together to exchange ideas for a common vision and purpose, that opens up something called a Mastermind or the third mind that gets opened up where you get a whole bunch of ideas for progress to happen

      • Siddharth Rajsekar

Great Takeaways,Anshuman! More power to you.

        • Isabella Rani

I get clarity about how to connect my vision, mission, value and code of honour by the given examples. Thankyou

1] How do you design a vision and a mission statement?
          Learning:
Simon’s Sinek — The golden circle: Businesses should communicate from inside out- Why they do what they do?
. Problem statement should be very clear.

2] How to come up with the values that align your mission?
Clarity approach with mission and vision will give you a solution of winning mindset and to solve the people’s problem.

3] How to craft a code of Honour that will protect me from me?
If your mission — vision– values are aligning, and you know from where you are starting and where you want to go … This is the code of honor which will protect you from you.

Amazing Podcast… Sidz I am just amazed at the simplicity with which you have communicated this Important aspect. The link or the flow given has made me remember the 6 steps of Problem (that one stands to solve) leading to the Mission and the Vision as its outcome. Then the Values (then automatically stems for the above points)- your being Freedom, Growth, Clarity, Abundance, Intensity (MONEY LOVES VELOCITY) and CONTRIBUTION. Well!! I wish to add that he reason for me joining your Tribe is you as a person having very High Values and inspiring your Tribe members to contribute 10% … πŸ™‚ (you covered this as well in the podcast as people join you for YOUR WHY and not for you.)
You also gave a summary of the Simon Sinik video emphasising on WHY in a precise way.
The CODE OF HONOR that protects one form ones own self. I completely resonate with you when you created VIBE ATTRACTS YOUR TRIBE and why not to have Money in the center. Amazing. I am committed to provide such immense value to my Tribe in a shorter span of time.
Thank you Thank you Thank you

Find a problem first, design Mission & vision
Mission is what you solve, vision is what the results you get after solving problems

We need to have Code of honour

We should work inside out not outside in
Outside in is what they do
Inside out us why they do, what they do

I got more clarity towards my goals today

      How can I relate is
The prblm is confidence – people lack confidence and Courage especially emerging women
Mission – I help emerging women to get confidence in whatever they dream of doing just by altering their attitudes of mind. A person can never lack confidence when they have right mindset
Vision – Through this they are able start their career what they love and they can find their passion. They live their dream life without regrets

Nice podcast. It gives good clarity on how vision, mission , values, and code of honour can be set for the tribe. Also, the linkages between each are explained, and how it helps the group harmony.

    • ASHIMA GUSAIN

The only way to attract life long customers is to be very clear on your vision, mission and values and the Code of Honour for yourself. Very few Business communicate inside out but they do much better than outside to inside businesses.
Mission focused businesses will definitely outdo profit centered businesses.
Vision, mission should clearly state as to what problem you are going to solve.
Next is values which need to be defined and should sprout out of your mission statement.
And last comes Code of Honour, it is a rule to protect you from you while making decisions.

    • Aditi Sen

      Key Takeaways
      1. First think about the problem statement – you want to solve
      2. Based on that design your mission of the business – what you want to do.
      3. Write the outcome, Vision for your community, business
      4. To implement the mission, what are the values you set for your community
      5. and design your Code of Honor for each value so your community, business can adhere to the core values.
This will help to get like minded people in the community. Only those who connect to your values will stay and work towards a common mission, Vision.
      Thank Sidz for the clarity.

    • Parikshit Sreedhar

As much as we agreed on the importance of GOAL setting to help us achieve clarity, we will continue on the same momentum to understand how to design a VISION, MISSION, VALUES, and CODE OF HONOR.

In order to attract, connect, and stay engaged with our tribe of customers and community members, we must communicate and radiate the WHY of whatever we are doing? WHY are we doing what we are doing? This is inside out communication. Most businesses communicate outside-In i.e. they provide clarity on what they are doing. If we can radiate our WHY, we will attract customers for life.

The WHY is a compound of Vision, Mission, Valules, and Code of Honor.

Vision is the final outcome when the problem is solved

Mission is something we do on a persistent basis to progress towards the vision

Values are foundations and principles that we stand for.

Code of Honor is to help us make decisions that align with our principles and foundations. It is to protect us from us.
