Have you been experiencing emotional rollercoasters lately? Do you sometimes feel really happy and suddenly sad the very next moment?

This has a lot to do with your consciousness. You’ve got to protect it.

Here’s a video, I talk about these 3 reasons why we all go through emotional rollercoasters at different stages in our life.

First, let’s understand why we need to protect our consciousness?

Why Protect Our Consciousness

protect consciousness

Consciousness is the symptom of the soul – that we are alive.

The body is made up of the 5 gross elements and 3 subtle elements – all in the material plane.

  • GROSS elements – earth, water, fire, air, and ether.
  • SUBTLE elements – mind, intelligence & false ego.

The soul is a spiritual element, not material.

And thru the gross and subtle elements, our consciousness can get affected.

Which is why spirituality and meditation really help in calming and aligning our material faculty.

We go through emotional mood swings and disturbances because we are not mindful of protecting our consciousness.

So the main reasons why we need to protect our consciousness are:

  1. Will help us be more stable mentally and physically
  2. Will help us connect on a deeper level with people
  3. Will help us connect with GOD with better clarity. (Watch my video on God, Demigods & Incarnations)
  4. Will help us live a more fulfilled life without resentment
  5. Will help better in our relationships with our near and dear ones

Level Of Consciousness

According to the Hypnosis Training Academy, there are different levels of consciousness.

levels of consciousness

Now let’s dive into the 3 aspects which can alter our consciousness.

1. The Food We Eat

food

What you eat has a direct impact on your consciousness and mindset.

A friend of mine who had quit eating meat for a whole year shared with me on how peaceful his mind was while not having meat.

Scientifically speaking, the hormones released from an animal during the time of it’s killing has a lot of fear inside. And when we consume this flesh with those hormones, it also affects our consciousness.

On a bodily level, meat might have some nutrition properties which help the body, but at a consciousness level, it does affect us.

So be very careful on what goes into your body.

Drink a lot of water and fluids to keep your mental state stable.

2. The Information We Consume

information

Garbage in, garbage out.

If you feed your mind with good information, it will come out.

If you watch the news, soap operas and all the drama on television, you will manifest the same in your life.

I’ve stopped reading the newspaper and watching the news on television many years back, and I really don’t feel that I’m missing anything, as everything is available online and on-demand.

If you want your consciousness to remain in a pure state, stop contaminating it with garbage information which has no productive value in your life.

The more vigilant you are with your personal consciousness the better.

Reading books on spirituality (like the Bhagavad Gita or the Bible or the Koran) will give your soul the food it deserves. And this, in turn, will help improve your consciousness.

3. Emotional Triggers From The Past

triggers

Imagine you picked a fight with someone in a restaurant. It was bad. Then you go back to the same restaurant after a few months. You replay what happened. And don’t you start feeling the same emotions triggered inside you due to the past experience?

These are emotional triggers.

These triggers also affect your consciousness.

I recently made a list of all the possible things which trigger negative emotions. And every time I’m reminded of a particular thing or situation, I just make it a practice to take a deep breath and let go of the past in one instance.

It’s tough, but it’s at least better than not being aware of what triggered that negative emotion.

Increasing your state of awareness through meditation and yoga will help you overcome negative triggers and will help reduce emotional rollercoasters and protect your consciousness.
